We are a unique, award winning salon team that has been together for decades. Our team

The Grasshopper Salon is a team of talented and experienced stylists who have been together for decades.
We each have our own passions and areas of expertise that we use to keep you looking your best.
Here’s a little bit more about who we are and what we can do for you.

Karyn

Karyn is The Grasshopper Salon’s sole proprietor and coordinator. She brings over 42 years of experience in the salon business, as well as a mountain of accolades and appearances. She’s an award winning makeup artist, an ask the expert columnist, a fashion show coordinator, and a USA national judge. To top it all off, she has also appeared as an expert on several well known talk shows, including Wendy Williams, Ricki Lake, Montel Williams, and Gordon Elliot.

Christine

Christine brings 20+ years of experience (and passion) in hair. Not only is she a master color specialist, she is also certified in keratin treatments. She specializes in long hair cuts and blows as well as updos and downdos. Don’t worry guys: Christine’s also here for you! She is a certified master barber and can help you find the perfect cut.

Lewis

Highly experienced in a number of areas, Lewis is equally versed in styling for both men and women. A master Keratin treatment specialist, he’s also extremely experienced in color and cut and blow out sets. He is a perm artist and designer, as well as an excellent barber.

Christina

Christina "italianchris" is an all around beauty expert! She has been with the team for over 16 years, mastering the art of makeup and hair design/colorist! Her talents don't stop there, also a much experienced nail tech and certified in hair removal (face & body). She was highly trained in Beverly Hills by celebrity makeup artists and in NYC as well. Adding to her repitoir she has recently become a beauty contributor for Athleisure Magazine. Chris' certifications include: Master Makeup Artist, Temptu/Dinair Master Artist, Keratin Complex, Depileve Hair Removal, Goldwell Colorist

Elena

With over 35 years of experience in hair, Elena is the person to come to if you’re interested in classic Hollywood updos and downdos. She’s also a fantastic colorist (particularly when it comes to getting that ombré look) and is well versed in perms, cuts, and design.

Peggy

Peggy has over forty years of experience in the hair business. She is a master colorist: if you’re looking for foil highlights she can’t be beat! Peggy also brings years of experience in precision unisex cutting.

Kayla

Kayla is highly experienced in color assistantce to our colorists. She’s highly educated in cleansing, conditioning, and color removal at sinks. She’s also a specialist in giving the most delightful head massages during a shampoo! Hairdresser and Blow Out, Queen of BlowOut Bar!

Kayla Marie

Kayla Marie has worked as a freelance makeup artist for over 5 years. She is completing her studies The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) while pursuing a career in makeup. She began her professional career as a fashion makeup artist shortly after her high school graduation. Her professional skills cover bridal, in-stuido, fashion, video, print, HD, and other aspects of media makeup. She is happy to work as an in house makeup artist for Grasshopper Salon.

Marissa Viray

Prior to graduating as an Esthetician in 1999, from Capri Institute of Cosmetology in Paramus, NJ and pursuing Undergraduate studies in Social Sciences from St. Peter's College in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, Marissa has not only delved into the business side of the beauty industry, but landed a job immediately with a start-up business located in Cresskill, New Jersey called Magnifique Skin Care.

Not long after that, she continued her education, received her Second Licence, now as a full-pledged Cosmetologist in 2003.
